*I was given permission by the owner of the characters Lucy and John to use them in this post*
The next morning, Riley awoke. Remembering the previous day, she reaches down and taps Quinn on his forehead five times. That had been their safe signal. Five taps meant all clear when waking up. But if you were woke by a squeeze, anywhere, that meant to wake up alert because something is wrong.
Quinn sits up and stretches, then gets up, going to the little kitchenette to cook some breakfast for everyone. He uses some of the food Riley had gotten the day before. Soon enough, everyone was up and eating. Lucy kept glancing at Quinn, then at Riley, more glaring at her than anything else. John soon was talking to Quinn about the future of their little group.
"We need to go out and look for more supplies."
"But we also need a bigger living space. This tiny apartment of yours is barely big enough for one person, let alone four! Plus what happens if this place is attacked? Its too closed in to fight properly."
"We already solved that problem. Lucy's parents house is across the park where you two were living. Its easier to defend and big enough for us all and a few more for now." Hearing this, Lucy turned to their conversation.
"No."
"No? Lucy! The man has a point! We can't stay here any longer." John pleaded with her. He had been feeling the lack of privacy and these newcomers were just the excuse he needed to get her to go back.
Lucy sighs, "Fine... But, only for a little while. then we look for somewhere else."
John and Quinn both nod. "Ok! Now that thats settled, since you two are going to be with us for a while, we will need more supplies. So how about on the way there, we go and look for some. The other day I thought I saw a cache of ammo and cans in an old warehouse. They should still be there."
Riley lifts her head, "Sounds good. When we get there, I'll keep lookout."
The other three nod, though Lucy was reluctant. They clean up the apartment, packing anything valuable or essential to their survival, like the camping stove they cook on. Lucy and John look everywhere, collecting their belongings and stowing them in their packs. There has been an unspoken rule since the Accident: pack light and only take what your willing to carry. In the end, Lucy had her personal bag, same with Riley, and John and Quinn had their one personal bag along with one extra for any supplies they might find.
The four left the apartment complex and made their way back to the park, turning North to where the warehouse was instead of east to Lucy's parents house.
"John are we almost there?" Lucy asked while keeping a sharp eye out for any undead "and if there still is food and supply's should we really be showing them? What if they just kill us and take it?" Lucy says while eyeing Riley and Quinn. "They don't seem like that type of people" John says with a smile as he pats Quinn on the back
ReplyDeleteQuinn chuckles softly, "Lucy. If we wanted to kill you, we could've last night. Since we obviously didn't, doesn't that mean we most likely wont?" Riley nodded, "we should be prepared to fight zombies and any hostile people we may find. Not eachother."

ReplyDeleteQuinn quickly jumped in front of Riley "what was that?" He asks John who has his shot gun at the ready "i dont know" he replys and They run the rest of the way to the warehouse . "Lucy go up the fire escape two the 2nd floor and give us cover fire if we need it" John tells Lucy "you ready" he asks Quinn and Riley and they both nod then they all slowly make their way inside John and Quinn in the lead with Riley right behind them "I hear some thing up ahead" Riley says. They all make there way in to the main room and they see a man fighting off a dozen or so zombies
The man with a knife in his left hand and a pistol in his right quickly and gracefully takes out a handful of the infected attacking him. He quickly gets overrun and backed into a corner fighting for his life.
ReplyDeleteRiley rushes in, her daggers flying as she disposes of the zombies. Quinn immediately starts firing his pistol, one-shotting every time. Arrows fly over their heads and each time Quinn hopes Lucy doesn't give in to rage for him and riley and "accidentally" hit one of them.
ReplyDeleteLucy shoots one after another making sure as not to hit any one down there with them even though she would have really liked to shoot Riley. John rushes in after Riley and starts hacking them apart with his hand and half sword. He looks over at Quinn "easy with the gun, we don't need any more of them hearing this"
ReplyDeleteQuinn nods and reloads, then attaches a silencer that he had found a while back. Riley jumps forward and beheads the last zombie, panting and smiling. "That was so much fun! Quinn, why can't we do this more often?" Quinn laughs and shakes his head at her, "Because you might get hurt." She sighs and turns to the stranger standing there. "So what'd you do to attract so many?"
ReplyDelete"Thanks for the help" says Sam. " I was walking down the alley behind this armory and was cornered and startled them" Sam says trying to catch his breath from the battle. " where did you guys come from?" With a concerned and wavering voice. Sam sighs, "But if you all didn't show up I would have been screwed! I can't thank you enough."
ReplyDelete"We were out looking for supplies when we heard your gun shot" John says while cleaning the blood off his sword. "Your very lucky we were in the area other whise you'd be dead" Lucy says while coming down a flight of stairs before going around to collect her arrows she fired.
ReplyDelete"And I appreciate that, I really do." Sam says with his knife hidden in his palm at the ready. He is still unsure of the strangers. "Well you came to the right place if your looking for ammunition. That's why I stopped in here but as for medical supplies and food this place seems to be lacking." As he looks around very careful trying not to notify the strangers if he finds something. "So... Who are you?"
ReplyDelete"i'm john and thats Lucy" john nods towards Lucy "and you can put away your dagger if we wanted you dead Lucy could have just shot you while she was up there"
ReplyDeleteRiley looks up from searching some boxes, "im riley and the guy with the gun is my brother Quinn. And I agree with john. If we wanted to kill you, you'd already be dead." Quinn nodslaughs and putsriley his pistoleyes away, "We came hear in search of supplies. If its ok with john and Lucy, you can join us."
ReplyDeleteJohn looks over at Lucy who gives him the look like I didn't even want the first two to join us "sure yeah it's ok with us"John says while looking for some amo for his shot gun
ReplyDeleteSam picks up on John's reservations. Sam reluctantly holsters his knife in his vest. "I'm Sam. It's nice to meet you all. Been a long time since I have seen someone who isn't the walking dead. And I appreciate the offer but I couldn't impose." Says Sam as his stomach grumbles. " however the world looks to have gone to hell so if it's not a bother I figure there is strength in numbers." Sam looks at the 4 strangers for approval. "I can be a great asset with most things mechanical, and I can definitely help with supply runs."
ReplyDeleteQuinn nods and goes to shake sams hand. "Good. We're gonna need someone like you if we ever find a generator or a place with solar panels. We're gonna need power."
ReplyDelete"I would be more than happy to help" Sam says as he shakes Quinn's hand. He then turns to John and holds his hand out shake. "I'm very thankful."
ReplyDeleteJohn shakes his hand " it's good to have some one like you on our team. We should get a move on all this noise will attract zombies"
ReplyDelete"Agreed. Lets grab all that we can carry" Sam says as he grabs ammo and puts it in his vest and pockets.
ReplyDeleteRiley and Quinn fill help Lucy, Sam and john fill the two extra bags they brought along. "We shouldn't need ammo for a while with how much we're getting here! I sooooo call target practice when we get to lucy's parents house!" Quinn is practically bouncing and riley just laughs at her brother.
ReplyDelete" Is that where we are headed? And target practice is good but lets do it away from our place of shelter. Don't need unwanted walkers." Sam hears a noise coming from outside and runs to the window. "We got company!"
ReplyDeleteRiley runs out, her daggers flying into action. Quinn knocks out a window and starts firing his silenced pistol. With both of them attacking, a path through the horde is created. Quinn shouts at the others, "GO! ILL BRING UP THE BACK! FOLLOW RILEY!"
ReplyDeleteLucy gets next to Riley and starts helping her fight through them as John carries her bag and getting any they miss "my house is that way" Lucy points to a gated naborhood
ReplyDeleteSam quickly runs through the open pathway with knife drawn.
ReplyDeleteQuinn brings up the rear after john goes through. They all run to lucy's house.
ReplyDeleteLucy unlocks the door with a key from her bag and let's every one in before shutting and locking it again. "Well here we are, there is some canned food in the pantry if any one is hungry and there are rooms for you to put your stuff in" John tells every one
ReplyDelete"Wow nice place. Kind of reminds me of home. And John I'm going to take you up on that offer for food, I haven't eaten in 3 days." Sam says as his mouth begins to salivate at the thought of food.
ReplyDeleteRiley goes upstairs, looking for a room for her and Quinn. She finds one that has a big queen sized bed, the room painted in green and black and silver. She smiles and sets her stuff down.
ReplyDeleteQuinn smirks at sams reaction at the mention of food. "I can cook. If its alright, ill make us all some dinner. How's spinach and buttered noodles with tuna? Me and riley found this a while back and were saving it for something special. I guess this works."
john smiles at Quinn "sure! that sounds great! ill go check the windows on the bottom floor and ill check the doors to make sure nothing can get in"
ReplyDeleteLucy slowly makes her way up the stairs, and down two halls before ending up in a very large Victorian theme room with a big king size bed. tears start to form in her eyes as she picks up a picture from the bed side table, and looks it. she slowly touches the faces of her parents and little brother in the picture before setting it back down.
Quinn gets to cooking, boiling the noodles and then mixing in the spinach and butter. As he piles it on 5 plates, he places a little tuna on top. He then sets the dining room table while the food cools a little. He places each plate at a place setting and goes to the stairway at the center of the house to call everyone to dinner. Riley comes down the stairs and smiles at Quinn, then takes a seat.
ReplyDeleteJohn is at the table as soon as it's done and Lucy comes down the stairs and sets. Once every one is seated Lucy looks around at all of them "I'll say grace" after she's done John digs in as if he hasn't had a nice hot meal in a while
ReplyDelete"Thank you very much for the food!" Sam says as he digs in eating like a pig. "Excuse my manners I'm hungrier than I thought!"
ReplyDeleteOnce everyone is done eating, riley clears the table and starts washing dishes. Quinn helps her dry them and puts them away. Then Quinn goes to the game room. "Hey! Anyone wanna play some pool?"
ReplyDeleteRiley goes up to her room and changes inti some pjs. She then climbs inti the first bed she's been in in over 3and months and sleeps.
John walks in to the game room "sure all join you"
ReplyDeleteLucy makes her way up to her parents room and changes in to her night shirt. Then she gets in to the large bed and falls asleep

ReplyDeleteSam sits and watches the other two guys play, while keeping alert for any zombie signs. He yawns once.
Quinn ends up being solids, getting four of the balls in while john got five. It was johns turn.
John does pretty well but ends up looseing in the end "well I'm off to bed, good night y'all" John heads up to a room
ReplyDelete"Me too... What a long day..." With that Quinn goes to his and Riley's room and changes into his tee and sweats and sleeps.
ReplyDeleteSam, after dozing off, is woken by the sound of Quinn walking up the stairs. He trudges up after him and into a random room, too tired to notice his surroundings as he passes out on the bed.
